Miami Beach Bike Lanes Make a Strong Debut

Biking is an enjoyable sport that is beneficial for your fitness. However, when you’re cruising along crowded streets like those in Miami Beach, there is still the possibility of automobiles. Thankfully, this very issue is answered by a newly launched bike lane in the city.

Washington Avenue is the first road in the barrier island to debut a parking-protected bike lane, not just in the area, but in the South Florida region! Locals, companies, and daily cyclists have also praised the lanes which go a long way in keeping locals and tourists safe as they get around.

These parking-protected lanes have been used in other places of the world, despite being newly introduced to South Florida. The lane is labeled with white and green paint lines and they stretch through both sides of Washington Avenue, running from Lincoln Road to Fifth Street. A collection of parallel parking cars that often act as more of a buffer separate the lanes from street traffic. Both sides of Washington Avenue have been narrowed to a sole lane of traffic to accommodate these additional lanes.
