The Nest Is a Quirky Change of Pace

Lincoln Eatery is a great place to eat if you can’t seem to make up your mind on what Lincoln Road restaurants appeal to you. If you’re looking for a drink, it’s also where you’ll find the secret entrance to a rooftop bar called the Nest.

True to its name, the Nest has birdcages complemented by a décor that could best be described as funky. With antique lanterns, pillows, candles, string lights, and murals painted by local artists, it’s a relaxing and certainly intriguing experience. The 3,300+ square foot space is designed to make locals feel as if they’re sipping on cocktails while lounging in their yard. This is further enhanced by the use of greenery and lounge furniture.

Yet another unusual feature of the Nest is its so-called “spontaneous activations” where performers such as contortionists will make an appearance. Then again, you may your server wearing roller skates as they bring you some shots to throw back. There are also plans to have a wellness night each week as well as movie nights and sports broadcasts.Drink options at the Nest include creative names like the tequila and passionfruit liquor Bird in the Hand as well as classics like the Nest Gin and Tonic.

The Nest is located at 723 Lincoln Lane and is open Fridays and Saturdays from 5 pm to midnight.

TripAdvisor Recommends Miami Beach Restaurants

Many people have come to rely on the numerous reviews and recommendations found on TripAdvisor. The American travel and restaurant website has become something of a source when it comes to recommendations.

One of TripAdvisor’s latest lists is ranking the top restaurants in the United States. If it’s to be believed, a number of those restaurants are right here in Florida, including several in Miami Beach. Eight different Florida restaurants made an appearance, with five of them in the barrier island. The restaurant categories include fine dining, fast casual, and everyday dining.

For everyday dining, the Italian-themed Pane & Vino came in first place. Just a couple of places lower in fourth place is 11th Street Diner, known for its Art Deco design. As for fine dining, the sole South Florida eatery coming in tenth place to earn that distinction is The Bazaar by José Andrés, a highly regarded Spanish restaurant nestled in the trendy SLS South Beach. And when it comes to fast casual dining, head on over to Shake Shack, which earned second place in the category.

Have you been to any of these places mentioned in TripAdvisor’s list? What are some of your favorite Miami Beach or South Beach places to eat?

Discover Espanola Way

Ocean Drive and Lincoln Road in Miami Beach draw a lot of the attention among locals and tourists looking to explore the barrier island but when is the last time you visited Espanola Way? Nestled between 16th and 14th Street, this best kept secret of sorts is brimming with a great ambiance, plenty of culture, and lots of wonderful places to enjoy a good meal.

Espanola Way received a $2 million makeover turning it into one of Miami Beach’s friendliest pedestrian-only streets. Exploring the street which has been around since the 1920s is like walking around the romantic streets of Paris or the popular Greenwich Village in New York. Despite the strong European architecture, the aesthetic is officially known as Mediterranean Revival.

If you have the time, make sure to drop by Espanola Way on Wednesdays between the hours of four o’clock to seven o’clock in the evening. That’s when the street turns into a giant happy hour celebration. If you can’t make it on Wednesday, you can enjoy Salsa night on Thursdays, Flamenco Fridays, or Samba on Saturdays.

When Ocean Drive and Lincoln Road are too bust, visit Espanola Way and you may find it to be a refreshing change of pace.

Upcoming Spring Dining

Miami Beach is definitely one of those cities where there is absolutely no shortage of different places to eat. No matter what your palate might be, there is bound to be a place for you. With the official start of the spring season just a few days away, some new eateries are on the horizon that may become the hottest new place to grab a bite.

We’ll begin right here in Miami Beach with Pubblica Italiana and Dalia, located in what was once known as Ocean Drive’s Park Central Hotel. Once the building re-emerges as the newly named Celino South Beach Hotel, it will feature the two aforementioned restaurants. As the name implies, Pubblica Italiana will have Italian cuisine while Dalia will skew towards Mediterranean-inspired dishes.

Tentatively opening next month on Drexel Avenue is the 17,000 square foot Time Out Market Miami. It will be first Time Out Market in the United States and it will feature over fifteen different eateries spearheaded by some major culinary bigwigs like Jeremy Ford, Norman Van Aken, and Michael Beltran.

Over in the Brickell area, Osaka is opening this month on Brickell Bay Drive. Already boasting nine locations across South America, this will be the first Osaka location in all of North America. The cuisine is a unique fusion of Japanese and Peruvian.
